Heart Of A Champion

         

Heart of a Champion is a documentary project I co-produced with Tommy McNeely who directed the pilot. The documentary is about a boxing trainer named Jason Ingwaldson who was once a former boxer. The story touches up on Jason’s success as an amateur boxer and his struggles that took him to the top and almost nearly lost his life. But in the end, Jason has the Heart of a Champion and is now training other fighters.

                This project consisted with pre and post production services, along with a team to handle certain technical issues. We shot the documentary at Roy Jones Jr (the former world boxing champion in 4 different weight divisions) new boxing academy gym here in Las Vegas Nevada. From shooting to editing to music scoring the documentary pilot, I had my hands involved with everything.
                All the shooting was done in location while all the post production services was taken care of in the studio. This project took 11 weeks to complete. This was a step by step process that needed to be done according to plan. While we were shooting the documentary, we ran into a few problems. One problem was the location. Every fifteen minutes an airplane would fly over the gym which would disrupt the flow of the interview, and most importantly disrupt the audio that we were recording. Fortunately we were able to finish the interview, but had to pause every fifteen minutes.
            This project was a great experience because I am usually working strictly with mixing and mastering audio in the studio. Being able to learn how to record video really broadened my horizon as a producer. Also working for a credited project is always a plus. And most of all, working with other celebrities makes me feel like one as well.
